As a photographer, exploring new locations always brings a sense of excitement and discovery. Amy and Paul’s wedding took me to the stunning coastal beauty of West Wales—a place that instantly captivated me with its charm. With hidden coves, clear waters, and a serene atmosphere, this area is now my new favourite. Having photographed many weddings in South Wales, it was nice to get the opportunity to venture further west.

Amy and Paul chose The Cliff Hotel & Spa in Cardigan for their wedding on a breathtaking cliffside overlooking Cardigan Bay. The hotel offers panoramic views that stretch across the Welsh coast, the Teifi Estuary, and the expansive beach of Poppit Sands. This location was perfect for Amy and Paul, who share a deep love for surfing, the sea, and the outdoors.

The Cliff Hotel & Spa offered a wonderful mix of elegance and relaxation. Many of the rooms feature views of Cardigan Bay or the hotel's cliff-top golf course. The hotel boasts spa facilities, including a saltwater hydro spa, sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms, which we had to test before the big day!

Photographing at a new venue, especially one which can be influenced by the unpredictable coastal weather with open cliff tops and steep steps to the beach below, called for thorough exploration and planning. Arriving the night before the wedding not only eliminated any potential travel issues but also allowed me to familiarise myself with the venue.

This allowed me to scout the best spots for couple shots, group photos, and areas where guests would be gathered in the rain or sun. Thanks must go to my husband who patiently stood in numerous spots for me to prepare. Planning is so important to allow me to create a fine balance of covering everything required whilst giving everyone time to relax, have fun and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the coastline, Amy and Paul exchanged vows in a ceremony filled with love, joy and a few happy tears.

After the ceremony, nature provided an incredible surprise: and dolphins were spotted in the bay. We then made our way down to a small beach. A quiet private cove, surrounded by striking cliffs for a couple of photos. I love this time when the couple get to share a quiet moment with each other and take everything in.

After their magical celebration, Amy and Paul set off for their honeymoon in Morocco (with surfboards) ready to continue their amazing adventure together.

It was an absolute honour to capture these moments for them—a day filled with breathtaking views, laughter and happy memories.
