The EFL's annual Week of Action celebrates the collective impact of Club community work across the League.

The EFL’s Week of Action is always a photography highlight — it’s a chance to capture how much impact football has beyond the pitch. Clubs all across the league come together to make a difference. Over five days, players, coaches, and staff teamed up in 72 towns and cities across England and Wales to connect with people and support amazing community projects.

This week, I had the chance to shoot an inspiring session at Cardiff City FC’s Community Foundation. Jesper Daland and Will Fish from Cardiff City FC who visited to check out the club’s futsal programme, which is run by degree students as part of the Foundation’s further and higher education courses. Futsal is such a fast, technical game, and it was awesome to see the Level 2 and 3 sport students showcasing their skills right on Cardiff City’s doorstep.

After the action, students from the BA Sports Business Management course ran a Q&A with the players, with Daland and Fish sharing their insights on resilience, setting goals, and advice for navigating challenges.

The best part about photographing events like this is seeing just how connected these clubs are to their communities.

82% of people in England and Wales live within 15 miles of an EFL club - over 49 million people, and every season, more than a million of them take part in club-led community initiatives. Seeing that impact up close through my lens is always inspiring.

Cardiff City FC’s mission is simple but powerful: to use football to change lives and transform communities. It was a privilege to be invited back to the House of Sport to document these moments. Football really is changing the game, on and off the pitch.
